What are these Spam Quarantine Messages (and who is Barracuda)?

Question:

"Spam Quarantine Messages" are messages that list other messages that you have received that the "Barracuda" e-mail filter is holding onto for you to look at them (it thinks they might be junk). You can have them deleted, delivered, marked to always be delivered or marked as spam. Recommended choices are MARK AS SPAM (which then deletes it) or WHITELIST.

More information:

We’'ve had a lot of comments about people getting more junk mail than usual (and this has increased Internet-wide) so we’ve implemented a new feature to try and cut down on the Spam/Junk mail that you get. This should cut down on about 5%-15% (all the mail that’s marked QUAR) of the mail that comes into your mailbox from the outside world.

Instead of delivering QUARantined mail to you it will keep it on the Tangent mail server and alert you once a day. The messages will be from “Barracuda Login (ms16)” and the subject will be “Spam Quarantine Summary” so be sure not to delete those messages. You can turn this feature off (see below) and it will be like we never changed anything.

This is what the (tangent) e-mail message looks like:

From here you have several choices you can click on: you may have it Delivered, you can Whitelist it (don’t stop mail from this person anymore) or you can just Delete it.

My recommendation is to click on the click here (in their e-mail) which takes you to the web and you can Delete them all at once or you can Classify As Spam (this is better) so that the filtering computer (Barracuda) can learn what is spam and what isn’t (and cut down on the spam you and others get).

Once you’ve gone to the web (after clicking click here in their e-mail) you can click on PREFERENCES and change the Quarantine Settings to only update Weekly or to turn it off (Enable Quarantine=no). If you turn it to off it’ll be just as if we never activated this feature for you (everyone was tuned on at once because it’s much harder for the individual to turn it on than it is to turn it off ).

You can also go to the Whitelist Option and add anyone you want to not have filtered (either stopped or have BULK added to their subject line).

If you need to login or get a password (even if you had one but forgot it):

To modify blocking/unblocking settings go to http://ms16.tcnoc.com/ and log in.
First time setup: If it is your first time put your South Redford School District e-mail address ( ffffll01@southredford.net ) into the username box and click create new password (you need to scroll down a few inches to see this link). You will then have to wait until they send you an e-mail message to authenticate your account (sometimes this is just a few minutes, sometimes an hour). If it says "unable to create account" then click on the Tangent log in the upper left corner of the page and then choose "Create User Account".

The message they send you is from something like "Barracuda Login" and the subject is something like "User Quarantine Account Information". You must log in before midnight that day and change your password or you will have to redo the process. Click on the link (in the e-mail they send you) and then click PREFERENCES and choose password to change it from the one they sent you.

If you forgot your password you can just go though the first time setup again.
