What is E-mail Filtering?

Question:

Find out what is filtered and what is not filtered.

More information:

The district has installed filtering for incoming e-mail. This will not stop all spam but it will stop most of it. This only filters mail sent from outside the district.

Currently it is -

  • Stopping one-third to one-half of our e-mail that it is certain is spam or viruses.
  • Marking one-fifth to one-quarter of our mail that it thinks may be spam or may contain a virus or a link to a virus related web site. It marks it as [BULK] or [QUAR].
  • Removing anything that it recognizes as a virus regardless of any other settings.
  • Intentionally not stopping everything (read on).

The filter will let some junk mail past, it has to, it cannot always tell if it is junk or real. It’s much more important that you receive all your mail and a little junk compared to receiving no junk but missing some mail.

Taking one of the Outlook classes that the district offers can show you how to get some of that mail out of your mail.
