Internet Access for TTI Laptop

Question:

How do I get free Internet access for a TTI laptop? (DISCONTINUED)

More information:

While most of the below dial-in information is OUT OF DATE.

I've heard of some success with http://www.DialInFree.com/ - I have no other information on this program other than it's Michigan Based and I tried it once and it worked the one time I tried it.

THIS SERVICE IS DISCONTINUED.

I believe all of our laptops were purchased when they were giving 3 years of dial-up Internet access with the laptop. They’ve changed the length of time several times in the process. I believe they are measuring from the time of purchase, not from the time of activation. All of our TTI Laptops were purchased in June/July of 2001. So it should last until June of 2004, but it may end earlier since the program actually started in April/May.

There should be a one page sheet of instructions on how to get on-line with your laptop. If not you can contact the data center for a copy of the instructions.

If you have any problems connecting to the Internet call 1-888-321-4540 for the Dell/Sequoia Help Desk for TTI Merit Internet Services. This help line support is already paid for as part of the TTI Program.

Inherited Laptop Internet Issues
If for some reason you have (inherited) a laptop that the Internet was set up by a previous teacher (or something along those lines) you can e-mail Merit and they can reset the account.

tti-questions@merit.edu

  • tag number from bottom of laptop
  • school district name
  • name of person name who will now be attached to that account
  • a phone number where they can reach you if they have questions

Occasionally they say that the info needs to be sent into an technology administrator, if so, send the information to me and I’ll forward send it in.
